About the Event
During this course you will learn how to use myofascial release techniques to create space in your yoga practice for added release from the tension system of the myofascia.
We will look at anatomy and the muscle groups in the chains or trains of muscles joined together, the major trigger points most commonly found and their referral pain patterns, and look at easy ways to use tennis or myofascial balls, rolled up yoga mats or foam rollers and yoga blocks to ease some of the tension in the system.
The world of fascia research is fascinating and is currently opening up leading us to some amazing insights. We will look briefly at the role of fascia in movement, trauma, memory, communication and nervous system response.
However this course will be mostly practical guidance, looking at easy ways to translate the heady fascia research into a body based understanding of the effects of myofascia release and the way you can easily incorporate it into your yoga practice without over complicating it.

Testimonial
"What a treat! 'Yoga & Myofascial Release' course was such a tonic. Stephanie expertly wove together classes to help us understand how the MFR translates into the movement in our bodies- so many light bulb moments (tight hamstrings? try massaging the feet!). I have loved incorporate these techniques into my own practice and into my classes. I can't wait to delve further into myofascial release on future courses with the Shanti Centre. This course really helped me become more in touch with my body and its needs- another great tool to add to my yoga tool box. Thank you from the bottom of my feet to the top of my head."
